Tintype ID'd Man Using 1860s FLORENCE SEWING MACHINE SUICIDE Death, OCCUPATIONAL snake 6th plate tintype in aOriginal tintype of Walter Ellis Bennet (1850 1908) working on what I believe is an 1860's Florence Treadle Sewing Machine. In the 1880 Connecticut census Bennet's occupation was listed as "Machinist". Confidence of the ID is 100%, based on other ID'd photos in the album that this was found in. Looking up his death certificate, it shows that Bennet died of pneumonia some days after a self inflicted slash to his throat. Note that he is only identified
