under magnification all of those dark specks seem to be stuck on the underside of the glass

She is tentatively identified by the note as Grandma Stone

but those could be candy as well

I don't know the backstory

Tintype is a bit larger than the window. Looks like it's probably on the lap of a hidden "mother" or photographer's assistant. Condition of the tintype is perfect. Paper frame has a light crease in the lower right corner. Shipping: Insured First Class.
