The gold thread used is a real metallic thread and it is woven through the black base with different weaves to create the most wonderful effect and allow the rose pattern to feel like it is raised off the fabric. The thread used gives the exterior the feel of those real lame dresses from the twenties and this is obviously a high end fabric.
